Add A Syllabus

Adding a Syllabus 

  1. In the top right corner of your course, toggle on editing.
  2. You may drag and drop the file into your course or click add an activity or resource and choose file.
  3. On the following page, be sure to add a name. 
  4. Click save and display.
  5. In addition to adding a syllabus to your course, you must add your course syllabus to the syllabus repository. EC faculty can use this link to access the Earlham Syllabus Repository.

Uploading Files

Moodle limits file sizes. Larger files may need to be posted in Earlham Box and shared as a link in Moodle. EC faculty can post in Earlham Box, and share as a link in Moodle. If your file can be posted in Moodle, do the following: 

  1. In the top right corner of your course, toggle on editing
  2. Drag and drop the file into your course or click add an activity or resource and choose file
  3. Add the name of the file.
  4. Drag and drop your file in the select files area. or click the add button (piece of paper) to select and upload your file. 
  5. Click Save and display

Add a Link (Files or Videos)

  1. In the top right corner of your course, toggle on editing.
  2. Click add an activity or resource, followed by URL.
  3. On the following page add a name (required). .
  4. Add your URL and click save and display.  

Importing Content to a Course

Importing Content

The import function serves to reuse content from the current Moodle sever. (If you are interested in reusing content from older versions of Moodle, use the Backup + Restore function instead).To Import content, do the following: 

  1. In the top right corner of your course, toggle on editing. Click more, followed by course reuse
  2. Select the course that you want to import from and click Continue. (If you do not see your course in the list, you can search for a course in the search bar.)
  3. You will see backup settings. Select the options you want to import. Click next
  4. Choose where you want the selections to import to in your course. Click next
  5. Review the settings and click perform import.
  6. You should see a message that reads: "Import complete. Click continue to return to the course." You can select continue. If you do not see this message, then you will see an error message.
