"Old" Seminaries Moodle Transition

In upcoming months, the "Old" Seminaries Moodle server at will be shut down. This means that you will not have access to any courses, assignments, or materials located on this server. Most access will end on April 29, 2022, with exceptions for Brethren Academy courses and certain committees that will continue their access until June 30. Please plan to download any needed materials before the following dates.

This project will not affect graduate courses from Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 currently in "New" Moodle, which will be continuing.

April 29, 2022: Deadline for access to Bethany and ESR graduate courses on "Old" Moodle (includes May 2021 and earlier courses). Does not affect Brethren Academy courses.

June 30, 2022: Deadline for all access to "Old" Moodle content, including Brethren Academy courses. All committee documents and other content should be migrated to their new forever homes by this date. Paul Shaver is working on this project.

Please plan on downloading needing materials prior to these dates. We will send additional reminders as these dates approach.

Additional Details for Faculty & Staff

Jim Higginbotham and Steve Schweitzer helped identify a list of courses that are likely to be reused in the future, and the Moodle Support Team will be preserving backup copies of these Moodle courses (typically the most recent version or ones in multiple formats) so that they can be reused in the future when the course is taught again.

Key things to know about these backup files:

  • They will not include any user data--so won't be helpful for seeing a previous student's assignments or contributions.
  • They won't be easily accessible if you need a copy of a single reading. They will be stored as a zipped file, on a server only accessible to Moodle admins. The only way for us to access anything in the zipped file will be to load the entire contents into a new Moodle course. Please plan on downloading personal copies of readings, etc, for your individual use.
