Renew Items
Renewing Books Online
In the top right corner of the main screen of the Earlham Libraries Catalog you will see an option titled "Sign In." Click on this link to log in to your personal library account.

Your ID barcode = the barcode from the back of your ID/library card (starts with 29308)
Password = the first five letters of your last name (Pete Johnson's password = johns).
If your last name has fewer than five letters, it will be your entire last name.
If you have problems logging into your account, or your ID does not have a barcode on the back, please check with library staff.
After you log on, your account information will appear on the screen. You will see links to click to access information on Loans, Requests (hold request) and Fines & Fees. Your Active (current) Loans will automatically display on the screen. To view additional information on books you have checked out, click the book title on the list of Active Loans.
To renew a book that is currently checked out to you, click the word "Renew" next to the book information on the List of Active Loans (see below). This can be found on the far right side of the screen, on the same line containing the book title.
If this line says "Not Renewable," it means that you have either reached your renewal limit, or that the item cannot be renewed (i.e. the item has been placed on hold for another patron, or is on Reserve). Please check with library staff for assistance.

To renew all of your books, click the "Renew All" link at the top of the column.
Once your renewal has been processed, the Renew link will change to "Renew Successful" and a yellow bar will appear above the List of Active Loans saying "Renew Succeeded" (see below). The Due Date column for that title will update with the new due date.

Renewal Limits
Students: 5 renewals per book
Faculty: 3 renewals per book
Community members and PALNI/ALI-affiliated patrons: 2 renewals per book
If the renewal limit has been reached, books must be brought to the circulation desk for additional renewals.
Problems with Online Renewal?
Renewals may not be possible if a "hold" has been placed on an item.
Overdue items must be brought to the library for renewal. If this is not possible, please contact a Circulation supervisor.
If you have problems renewing your books in the online catalog, renewal requests may also be submitted by email:
It is also possible to renew your books in person, as long as you provide library staff with your name and the title of the book. It is not necessary to have the books with you for renewal, unless the items are overdue.
Reserve items may not be renewed. These items must be brought to the Circulation Desk and checked in. If no one else is waiting for the item, it may be checked out again immediately.
