Textbook Affordability

Options for reducing overall textbook costs from the Earlham College Libraries.

Finding Library Ebooks

The library owns 300,000+ academic and popular press ebooks, many with unlimited use licenses.

  1. Search the library catalog for options.

  2. Limit Format to ebook.

  3. "Held by Earlham College" indicates we have access. Click "View Ebook." (For ebooks held by other institutions, talk to a librarian about whether we can add.)

  4. Check limits on numbers of simultaneous users. Some ebooks will be limited to 1 or 3 simultaneous users. For class use, "Unlimited" use is best.

Finding Streaming Video from the Library

Browse the library's streaming video content in the databases listed below, or search the Library Catalog and limit format to eVideo. Earlham can also obtain streaming films through Swank Digital Campus: contact researchhelp@earlham.edu for assistance.

Due to copyright, we cannot make digital copies of library DVDs to post online.

Finding Articles and Other e-Content

The library subscribes to content from thousands of newspapers, journals, magazines, and other providers. Create your own "coursepacks" or readers by linking to material from library-licensed sources.

Start with these popular databases, or talk to a librarian for suggestions specific to your course.
