Highlights from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago
The Oriental Institute Museum is a showcase of the history, art and archaeology of the ancient Near East. An integral part of the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, which has supported research and archaeological excavation in the Near East since 1919, the Museum exhibits major collections of antiquities from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Iran, Syria, Palestine, and Anatolia.
Art Project applies Google's Street View technology to the experience of visiting a museum. Google has partnered with (for now) 17 of the world's top museums, including the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy; the National Gallery in London; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Visitors may navigate the site by selecting a particular museum from the home page. They can then virtually explore the museum by walking through the galleries and selecting particular artworks to view more closely.
You may save, collect, and share views of your favorite artworks by signing in with your google account information.
