Fully vaccinated Community members may access Lilly Library. Community members should first report to Public Safety, located on the west side of campus (see details on location here). Please be prepared to show a photo ID and proof of vaccination. If Community members have a current AWC card it should also be shown; Library access will be added to this card. After verifying ID and proof of vaccination, Public Safety will issue Community members a card that will allow them to enter Lilly Library during normal business hours. This card must be swiped at the front door of the library to gain entrance.
Retirees/Emeriti with an Earlham ID who wish to access Lilly Library should contact the Circulation Desk to verify their vaccination status and request access to the Library. Library staff will contact Public Safety to request that access to Lilly Library be added to their Earlham ID.
At this time unvaccinated Community members are not permitted to access the Library.
Lilly Library remains open to campus campus users. Users must swipe their campus ID at the front door to gain entrance to the library during regular open hours. Card swipe access is limited to the South entrance door (left side when facing the front entrance)
The Friends Collection and College Archives is now open to on-campus users. Fully vaccinated off-campus users and researchers are able to access their collections by appointment only. Please see their page for Services and Policies during COVID for access details.
Earlham users may continue to place holds on items from Friends circulating collections for pickup at the Lilly Library circulation desk. See the Grab and Go section below for more details on placing holds and how often Friends materials will be pulled for pickup.
Study rooms are now open for use. Please see the page for Lilly Rooms and Labs for more details on use.
Grab and Go service continues to be available at Lilly Library for students, faculty and staff of Earlham College, ESR, and Bethany. This service only applies to books and media owned by Earlham College Libraries. To participate, place a hold request for an item that is owned by Earlham College and currently listed as available in the library catalog.
(To place a hold: Search for items in the catalog, limit Held by Library to Earlham College, click the title of the item and click Request Hold. On the hold form, please choose that you want "Specific Copies or Volumes" and select the copy you want from the Lilly or Friends collections listed).
At this time we are unable to offer pickup services to members of the general community.
Pick up is available during regular library hours. Items must be placed on hold by 8am in order to be available for pickup same day/next business day (i.e. holds placed by 8am Tuesday will be available for pickup Tuesday; items placed on hold after 8am will be available for pickup the following business day). You will receive an email when your items are available for pickup.
Please note: Friends Collection and College Archives materials are pulled Monday-Friday, depending on staff availability. Check for the hold pickup email to verify that your materials are ready before coming in to the library.
Pick up location: Lilly Library Circulation Desk.
User notification: Notices are sent from a firstname.lastname@example.org address and may get caught in your spam filter; if you think your item should have arrived and you haven't seen an email, please check your spam filter.

Streaming films can be accessed by the campus community through the library catalog, or by going directly to Films on Demand, Kanopy or Theatre in Video. Earlham can also obtain streaming films through Swank Digital Campus: contact email@example.com for assistance. Due to copyright, we do not rip library DVDs to post online. If no Earlham options are available, students may have to use personal Amazon, Hulu, or Netflix memberships they might already have access to, or pay less than $5 to rent a title from a commercial provider (e.g. Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, etc.). Faculty are encouraged to be flexible.
