SPAN 406: Spanish Linguistics II: Researching Spanish Around the World

A resource guide for SPAN 406.

Two Useful Starting Points

These two resources will link you to a wealth of information about varieties of Spanish throughout the world. Many of the articles and books you will locate in these two resources are highly specialized and consequently require the use of Interlibrary Loan to obtain them.

  • Linguistic Bibliography
    • A database of citations to articles, reviews, and conference papers in all areas of linguistics, 1993 to present. No full text is available; you will probably need to use Interlibrary Loan to obtain it.
  • WorldCat
    • The world's largest library catalog, covering books and other materials available in OCLC member libraries around the globe.
    • Suggested search for you to customize -- select "spanish language" as a subject phrase in the first search box, and "provincialisms" as a subject phrase in the second search box, then experiment with keywords relevant to your topic in the third search box.
    • Remember that you will probably need to use the "Request via Tipasa" option to obtain the material you need.
