Often when a researcher is starting a project s/he needs some background information to understand the context of a subject, the vocabulary used and a greater sense of the content of the subject. There are many sources available and below several are suggested. Obviously these are just starting points but they help the researcher formulate how s/he will search other resources.

This database offers a collection of full-text biographies and unique narrative biographies. Including coverage for several of the most popular and heavily-researched biographies and genres, including those contained within Biography Today and Biography (both dating back to the first issue published).
