Welcome to the Student Moodle Help Guide! Here you will find information about navigating Moodle as a student. Click the tabs on the left to learn about topics such as finding your class, accessing announcements, utilizing forums, etc. If you do not find the information you're looking for after reading this guide, email moodlehelp@earlham.edu to request further assistance!
You will access your course via Moodle (Earlham College) or Seminaries Moodle (Bethany and ESR). If you do not see your class in Moodle, check with the Registrar to confirm your registration. If you need access to a class after the semester ends, have your professor contact moodlehelp@earlham.edu for assistance To access your classes during the semester, do the following:
Follow these instructions to change your preferred name in The Heart/Banner Self-Service. These changes will automatically update Moodle. Note there may be a slight delay, as Moodle only updates Banner information every few hours.
Log into Moodle then click your name in the top right of the screen.
Choose preferences, followed by edit profile.
Scroll down to the pronouns.You may enter your pronouns in the box.
Click update profile to save your changes.
If you wish to change your personal pronouns in The Heart/Banner, click these instructions.
The picture from your Student ID card will automatically show in Moodle and appear in the class roster. If you would prefer to use a different picture, you can change it, as having your picture in Moodle will help you make a connection to your peers and teachers. In order to change your picture, do the following:
The announcements forum acts as an announcements tool for your Moodle course. Only instructors and TAs can post to announcements, and by default, posts made to announcements are emailed to class members. Students cannot leave replies to the posts, as it is a one-way tool. To access announcements, check both email and Moodle on a daily basis.
The grades feature allows you to see your grades and feedback from teachers. To access grades, do the following:

When you initially post to a forum, there will be a 30 minute delay which will allow you to edit. Keep this in mind when completing forum assignments!
