Special Art Research Library Terms

Catalogue raisonné -provides a comprehensive and detailed as possible list of an artist’s work. Sometimes the catalog is broken down by format or medium, or broken down into chronological sequences.

Exhibition catalog -books that describe a temporary exhibition in a museum or art gallery. Usually includes descriptions and images of all works, an artist statement, and/or essays written about the work by curators or other specialists. Can also include bibliographies, indices, and chronologies.
